UPDATE: KKOB postpones Mark Smith interview with Brandon Vogt

By Robyn Vines Smith

Enchantment Sports managing editor

Mark Smith’s scheduled interview for this evening (June 25) on KKOB’s BV Tonight has been postponed per the radio station’s request.

No new date has yet been set, but Enchantment Sports will post information when it becomes available.

Brandon Vogt, a contributor to Enchantment Sports, is host of the radio show. It airs weekdays from 6-8 p.m. on 94.5 FM and 770 AM.

Smith, editor in chief of the website, is publishing a series about the shooting death of Lobo baseball player Jackson Weller, which has exposed many contradictions between the accounts UNM baseball coach Ray Birmingham and athletic director Eddie Nunez presented in a June 4 news conference.

Using eyewitness accounts and a surveillance video of the shooting, Smith wrote and published stories about the homicide on June 21 and June 24, and gave a detailed description of the surveillance video, with photos, on June 24.

No other Albuquerque news media has reported on the Enchantment Sports series, which will continue later this week.

Smith has made one radio appearance during the past week, being interviewed by KQTM (101.7 FM) on June 21 shortly after his first story broke.

He was also scheduled to be interviewed on another station that day, but that was canceled. Smith was asked to do radio interviews with two stations on Monday, but both of those interviews were postponed.

“It could very well mean a UNM news conference is in the works,” Smith said. “Let’s see what happens.”
